First of all, it's virtually impossible for me to take offense about anything as technical as vmWare Fusion.  I readily admit my marginal (at best) competence.

 

But I've been around long enough to make backups.  The .vmx file has been restored to its original pristine state.  If necessary I can reinstall 10.6 server.

 

And, having said all that, thank you very much for your prompt, detailed suggestion.  I have a relatively busy week coming up but will try to implement your suggestions over the next few days.

One more thing.  I'm pretty cautious about third-party add-ons.  The Sourceforge site for vmsvga2 advises against using their product starting a few years ago.  I followed their advice.

Hi,

 

In that editor, each subnet should represent only one line and not be overlapping (as you will get the message you're seeing now). To add another secondary IP address, add it to the "Secondary IP Address" column of the existing IP. To add more than one, simply add a comma in between: 10.50.1.199,10.50.1.205

Can anyone help me in vRealize Operation Manager, what is the process of calculating Stress Value%.

 

Is it the correct metric to calculate Time Remaining for VM CPU/Memory/Disk Utilization in Vrealize Operation Manager.

 

Please help me which metric i should use to monitor Actual Usage of all VM CPU/Memory/Disk in Vrealize Operation Manager.,

 

Which metric could be helpful to depict the Utilization of CPU/Memory/Disk historical data in this environment.?

Hi

i install Nexus 1000V last Version and migrate the VM from new Swtich and tow Cluster i have  when the migrate the vm from first cluster to andother one that NK1 install i see this error :

Currently connected network interface" 'Network adapter 1' cannot use network 'Unused_Or_Quarantine_Veth (switch)', because "the destination distributed switch has a different version or vendor than the source distributed switch".

Same issue here. Can't resume a VM. Can't create a VM. Can't start a VM. Just sits there doing nothing... Can't kill it. Reboot required. Doesn't help though...

Hi vmw,

Let me start by saying, I'm not really a beginner at all this, but by no means an expert. I realize this is not directly a VMWare issue
However, my problems began when I updated VMware.

I have Oracle 12c enterprise set up on a Oracle Enterprise Linux ver 7 box.
From the latest previous version of VMware Workstation 12 Pro, I updated to,  VMware Workstation 12 Pro, version 12.5.0 build-4352439

Prior to the VMware update to version 12.5.0 build-4352439, this has always worked fine, start Linux, from a terminal window
[oracle@oradev ~]$ sqlplus /nologSQL> conn SYS as SYSDBA
Enter password: xxxxx
startup
lsnrctl start

All was good.  Now, Sinse the VMware update to version 12.5.0 build-4352439, Now when I get to
startup  I get:
SQL> startup
ORA-00119: invalid specification for system parameter LOCAL_LISTENER
ORA-00130: invalid listener address '(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=oradev.attlocal.net)(PORT=1522))'
SQL>

I believe my host name in oracle Linux (which is on VM ware, so maybe is in VM ware setting, this all started after updating VM ware)
is not the same, somehow is in my listener.ora ?  It looks ok below to me, but as I said, I'm not expert level

Hi

I have some questions regarding Port Mirroring.

1- Do I need to enable promiscuous Mode ?

2- In case I do not know the upcomming VLANs should I use  VLAN Type VLAN trunking 0-4094 ?

3- if yes Why 0-4094 not 1-4094 ?

Just an update, installed VMware vSphere Data Protection 6.1 and tried to run a backup with the VM both turned on and off and it wont run.  I get an unspecified error.

Assuming you are using a Standard vSwitch:

 

1) Yes, promiscuous mode is required

2) You will need to configure the portgroup on the correct VLAN, if you are trunkinkg to your VMs, then 0-4094 is what you need to use.

3) 0-4094 is just how VMware specify "All VLANs" I suppose theoretically 1-4094 would work too but I have always set it to 0-4094 then tagged the specific VLAN I need on the VM's interfaces.

Could you create a support bundle for the ESXi hosts affected and I'll take a look at the logs.

It would not hurt to open a case with VMware if you have support also.

I'm trying to setup a physical to virtual conversion using VMware vCenter Standalone Converter. I have a online debian server I'm trying to convert to a virtual on an ESXI 6.0 host. Go through the setup just fine, but every time I get to 3%, I get the discussion topic's error.

 

Was hoping to find some help with this as Im not familiar with Linux as an admin. My company took on this project to migrate away from another company's Linux server and, while I've accomplished that, I'd like to keep a virtualized clone of the machine in the event that I need some data or some such off of it in the future (as even the client does not seem to realize what it was utilized for). I've attached my logs. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, many thanks for your reply. I am not sure if you wanted all the vmwarexxx.log files, so I got only vmware.log. For the other one, I have no idea how to get it, I will ask my linux guy tomorrow.
